Based on Nick Tosches’ 2002 book of the same name, In the Hand of Dante is about a fictionalized version of Tosches (played by Isaac) in the present day and the poet Dante Alighieri in the 14th century.

Tosches is drawn into the dangerous underworld of New York City when he is asked to authenticate Dante’s original manuscript of the Divine Comedy. At the same time, we accompany Dante as he attempts to complete his masterpiece.

Last month, Isaac, Momoa and Gadot were spotted filming an action-packed scene for the movie. In the photo, Isaac is seen bound and gagged on a rooftop while Gadot and Momoa point guns at him.

The project, which has been in the works for over a decade, is directed by Julian Schnabel (producer of The Diving Bell and the Butterfly), with Martin Scorsese serving as executive producer.

Johnny Depp was originally set to play the role of Tosche after acquiring the rights to the novel in 2008. However, Schnabel revealed to the Guardian last month that Isaac had taken over the role and Depp was no longer involved.

There is no release date yet for “In the Hand of Dante”.
