Flau’jae Johnson’s music video with Lil Wayne features a sparkling cameo from the LSU basketball player

Flau’jae Johnson released a new music video this week. The single is taken from her new album, “Best of Both Worlds,” which shares the same name as her podcast. It is her first release as a Roc Nation artist and her latest single, “Came Out A Beast,” features Lil Wayne. The music video blends both worlds of her life – music and basketball – in a very powerful way.

The video begins with what is arguably one of the most surprising cameos in music history. The first shot is of LSU cheerleaders, but then it quickly cuts to the LSU group where Kim Mulkey is berating her team. Lil Wayne later raps the line “Diamonds be sparklin’ like Coach Mulkey.” This comes shortly after he yells at Joe Burrow.

Johnson also points to Angel Reese and Shaquille O’Neal, meaning the two combined beat every contemporary Louisiana State athlete except Ben Simmons.

Johnson, who has nearly 150,000 monthly listeners on Spotify and 223,000 subscribers on YouTube, averaged 11 points and 5.9 rebounds per game as a freshman when LSU won the national championship. She improved her averages in nearly every statistical category in her sophomore season, but LSU fell to Caitlin Clark and Iowa in the Elite Eight. Johnson was LSU’s leading scorer in the team’s final three tournament games.
