Florida State wants to continue after loss to Georgia Tech

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – If anyone was wondering how Florida State football head coach Mike Norvell handled Saturday’s season-opening loss to Georgia Tech, he made that clear Wednesday during his weekly press conference.

“It’s disgusting that we couldn’t keep up in this game,” he said. “I take full responsibility for that.”

During his weekly press conference on Wednesday, he used the words “sick” or “disgusting” several times and also said that the team took time in Ireland on Sunday to watch game film before exploring the country a bit and returning home on Monday.

The coach acknowledged all of the team’s mistakes during the loss to Georgia Tech. He said they lacked explosive play offensively and missed too many tackles defensively.

Now it’s about looking forward. Boston College comes to Tallahassee Monday night, so there’s still some time to get everything right for this program. The guys treated Wednesday like a Monday and the coach said he was impressed with the team’s attitude after the loss.

“It’s all ahead of us. We’ve got to get going and get better,” he said. “Other than that, I’m not worried. I’m not worried about anything that we can’t control right now other than going out there and doing our best. Here and now, we’re getting ready for our practice on Tuesday and we’ll work on it throughout the week. That’s what I want and I think I have a football team that understands that and definitely showed that in their approach last night.”

Monday’s game against Boston College is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
