The New England Patriots lost their first preseason game under head coach Jerod Mayo against the Philadelphia Eagles at Gillette Stadium earlier this week.
While the Patriots had a confusing plan for their quarterbacks in the first game, both starting quarterback Jacoby Brissett and eventual starting quarterback Drake Maye got more opportunities in the second game as they prepare for the start of the regular season.
Maye played the most of any quarterback in the game, playing the entire second and third quarters before being replaced by Joe Milton III. Statistically, he may not have had the best night, completing an abysmal 54.5% of his passes for just 47 yards. However, there were some things to like about his performance.
Former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky, who now works as an analyst for ESPN, took to social media to analyze two of his favorite plays from Mayes’ second game.

Orlovsky also posted some plays that Maye needs to rewatch and learn from.

Like any young quarterback, Maye still has a lot of work to do, but this game was a good step in the right direction.
