Fox Army Center and Birmingham VA System Announce Agreement to Improve Health Care for Veterans

HUNTSVILLE, Alabama (WAFF) – The Birmingham VA Health Care System and the Fox Army Center announced an agreement Wednesday to improve health care for veterans and military members.

Under the agreement, Fox Army Health Center will have access to the Huntsville Veterans Clinic’s MRI/CT imaging and ultrasound/screening mammography services.

The Huntsville Clinic will also utilize space at the Fox Army Health Center to build a comprehensive, patient-centered care team and provide comprehensive primary care for veterans.

“We are excited about the opportunities this partnership brings and look forward to working closely with Huntsville Clinic and Birmingham VA,” said Lt. Col. Deepak Mathew, commander of Fox Army Health Center. “In many cases, the veteran is eligible for care at the DoD and VA levels. In these cases, the patient has a one-stop shop, with both primary care and pharmacy in one location. However, the primary goal is to improve the health and well-being of our veteran and military community.”

The collaboration is expected to expand the VA’s capacity to care for nearly 600 additional patients at the Fox Army Center.

Officials said the agreement would be implemented in the next few weeks.
