What you should know

  • Pasadena Humane Pet Training Open House
  • 7 September from 12 to 14 o’clock
  • Free, but please register. Please note that “pets must remain at home during the event.”
  • “What is my dog thinking” and other teaching demonstrations are on the program

An open house, a type of get-to-know-you event held at local businesses, can be a great way to learn about the many excellent offerings a place has to offer.

And animal lovers can recharge their batteries when Pasadena Humane hosts a two-hour event focusing on the organization’s animal training classes.

Fido fans are invited to the Raymond Avenue Center for a free open house starting at noon on Saturday, September 7. But here’s an important consideration to keep in mind: Although the event will be very pet-focused, your own pets will have to stay at home.

However, they remain engaged and busy as the presentation program during the open day is packed.

“What’s My Dog Thinking?” is the intriguing name of one session – you’ll learn to read body language – while “Cafe Canines” is about dog socialization, an important topic for any Lassie-loving person.

Cats and kittens are also the focus and everyone is invited to ask questions to the trainers on site, who are available to talk to visitors about all kinds of training topics.

“Having a well-behaved and well-mannered dog is important for many reasons; from walking him down the street to eating lunch on an outdoor patio to finding shelter,” says Dia DuVernet, president and CEO of Pasadena Humane.

“I encourage anyone who has a dog or cat to come to the open day to learn about our offerings and find the right fit for you and your pet.”

The program includes an agility demonstration and the opportunity to visit the center’s behavior and training rooms.

As mentioned, admission is free, but you should register; you can do that here.
