Freestone Medical Center appoints Melissa Wilson as new CEO

PLANO, Texas, 13 August 2024 /PRNewswire/ — CHC announced today that the Board of Directors of Freestone Medical Center (FMC) Melissa Wilson as FMC’s next Chief Executive Officer. Wilson will assume her new role 19 August 2024and her first day in the hospital will be 21 August 2024. She is successful John Yearleywho is retiring after six years as CEO of FMC.

Wilson brings over 24 years of healthcare experience to FMC, including more than 14 years as CEO, administrator and COO in nonprofit rural healthcare organizations, government and field. Most recently, she served as CEO of Concho County Hospital in Eden, Texasand previously as Chief Operating Officer for Dimmit Regional Hospital, Carrizo Springs, Texaswhich was held in partnership with Methodist Healthcare System-San Antonio.

Wilson has an impressive track record of improving operational efficiency, patient care, and driving growth for healthcare organizations. Wilson is also a retired Major from the U.S. Air Force Medical Service, where she honed her skills in strategic planning, financial management, and regulatory compliance.

Wilson is currently a doctoral student in Industrial and Organizational Psychology at Keiser University. She holds a Master of Science in Business Organizational Management from the University of LaVerne, La Verne, Californiaand a BS in Psychology from Wright State University, Dayton, Ohio.

Wilson’s appointment comes during a transition period for FMC. Yeary, who has served as CEO since 2018, is retiring after a distinguished 42-year career in healthcare. Under Yeary’s leadership, FMC has achieved significant milestones, including strengthening board-physician relationships, expanding FMC’s services with new clinics in the buffalo And Teague communities; and supporting technological advances such as moving the hospital’s IT platform to the cloud to improve efficiency and security.
