Fremont woman was not wearing a seatbelt in fatal accident in Seneca County

A Fremont woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash in rural Seneca County on Tuesday.

Destiny M. Stines, 28, was a passenger in a 2005 Dodge Magnum driven by John D. Adcock III, 46, also of Fremont. Also in the vehicle was Chavis J. Freeman, 40, also a Fremont resident.

The three were traveling east on Ohio 18 around 12:30 p.m. Adcock ran a stop sign at the intersection with Rd. 15 in Clinton Township, according to a news release from the Ohio Highway Patrol.

In the intersection in front of Adcock was a 2018 Hyundai Sonata driven by Sarah A. Law, 25, of Republic, a village in Seneca County.

“Adcock failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection and struck the Hyundai,” the press release states. “After the collision, the Dodge struck a traffic sign and overturned in a field on the southeast corner of the intersection. The Hyundai struck a traffic sign before coming to a stop in the same field.”

Police reported that Law was wearing a seatbelt. She suffered minor injuries and was taken to Tiffin Mercy Health.

According to the report, no one in the Dodge was wearing a seatbelt.

Stines was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene of the accident.

Freeman was ejected from the vehicle and flown directly from the scene of the accident to St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo.

Adcock was ejected from the vehicle and taken to Tiffin Mercy Health, and later flown to St. Vincent Medical Center.

Her condition was not immediately known.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office, Tiffin Fire Department, Clinton Township Volunteer Fire Department, Seneca County Emergency Medical Services, Mercy Health Life-Flight, Seneca County Coroner’s Office, Ohio Department of Transportation and Rush Towing.

The collision remains under investigation.
