Many new drivers – or even novice drivers – forget to think about car insurance when buying a new car. However, car insurance can be costly and can vary by almost £1,000 depending on the make and model of the vehicle, according to comparison site GoCompare.

The research found that on average, the most expensive type of car costs around £1,200 a year to insure, while the cheapest car costs around £241. With this in mind, it’s worth paying close attention to the make and model when choosing your car.

Following the research, Which? has announced the ten most expensive and cheapest cars to insure.

Which? has revealed the 10 cheapest car makes and models with average annual insurance sum, according to a study by GoCompare. The Peugeot 206 took the top spot with an average insurance sum of £241 per year.

The Porsche Boxster was the second cheapest at £243, while the Mazda MX-5 came third with an average premium of £249. Below you’ll find the make and model of the car, as well as the average cost of insuring it.
