A creative Quinceañera + Party on August 9 kicked off National Senior Citizens Week, filling the Adult Activity Center at the Coral Gables Youth Center with an afternoon of fun, food, dancing and more.

The event was hosted by Coral Gables Crime Watch, the Coral Gables Police and Fire Departments, and the Community Recreation Department. The community also contributed with donations of goods such as tiaras for all the ladies, photo opportunities, music, food, linens, decorations, and much more.

Ana Lam, Executive Director of Coral Gables Crime Watch, reported that the ladies even shared the dance floor with celebrities such as Coral Gables Police Chief Hudak, Sergeant Alex Escobar and Officer Natalie Flores to add to the festive and very special day for the ladies, many of whom may have never experienced a quinceañera before. This inaugural event was such a huge success that there is already talk of another one next year.
