The cheapest place to fill up your car in Surrey is at a Sainsbury’s petrol station in Reigate and Banstead.

According to the latest retailer data, the driver of an average family car could save up to £32 by filling up at this petrol station compared to the most expensive petrol station.

The Sainsbury’s petrol station at 21 Bonehurst Road, Reigate And Banstead is charging motorists 137.9p per litre, meaning it costs £78 to fill an average 55-litre tank. This is based on a feed of current petrol prices compiled by the government’s Competition and Markets Authority last September.

The average price of a litre of petrol in the Surrey region this week is 144.5p. Prices shown are as reported by retailers at 4:45am on Sunday 11 August 2024.

The most expensive petrol station in Surrey is a BP petrol station on the M25 Westbound, Tandridge. The price of regular petrol at this station is 169.9p, meaning that filling up an average family car at this station would cost a total of £97.

For diesel car owners, the cheapest place to fill up is the Sainsbury’s petrol station in Reigate and Banstead. According to retailer prices, the price of a litre of standard diesel at this station was 141.9p.

Motorists in the UK currently pay 144.1p per litre of petrol, while diesel owners pay an average of 149.0p. In Surrey, petrol car owners currently pay 0.3p more than the national average of 144.1p. Diesel car drivers in Surrey pay 0.8p more than the national average.

The cheapest petrol station in the country is an Applegreen petrol station in Rother, where a litre of regular petrol costs 133.8 pence. The most expensive petrol station in the country is a BP petrol station in Tandridge, where motorists have to pay 169.9 pence per litre.

Prices shown are for regular petrol (E10) and regular diesel (B7). The figures are provided by major petrol stations as part of a voluntary scheme set up by the Competition and Markets Authority to ensure motorists receive fair prices at the pumps. Most major petrol stations have joined the scheme and the stations providing up-to-date information account for around 60 per cent of the fuel sold in the UK. Fuel is often cheaper at Costco stores, but their service is only available to members.
