Get ready for the Unionville Community Fair – Daily Local

UNIONVILLE – The Unionville Community Fair celebrates its 100th anniversary Oct. 4-6.

Chester County’s only Centennial Fair offers tried-and-true classics as well as new and exciting entertainment. Come celebrate this momentous milestone and enjoy acts such as The Circus Incredible, a thrilling act featuring the granddaughter of the famous Flying Wallendas, who performs all three days of the fair.

There will also be a bounce zone, middle school games, power wheels, carriage rides from Thistle Down Farms, hayrides, music from local groups including Late Ambitions, the Kennett Teachers Band, and skits by the Kennett Amateur Theater Society and the Dan & Galla Musical Duo.

On Thursday evening, the fair kicks off with the 2nd Annual Tailgate featuring food, wine, games, and a tailgate judge. Throughout the fair weekend, there are many popular events such as the Lip Sync Contest, Haunted Tent, Cow Pie Bingo, Dairy & Goat Shows, and of course the Exhibit Barn featuring farm products, baked goods, crafts, and more, as well as many local craft vendors.

Have we made you hungry? Then you have come to the right place: the beer and wine garden as well as numerous food trucks.

The Unionville Community Fair promotes community involvement in agriculture, agribusiness, crafts and the arts. The three-day event features the largest display of community-produced agricultural products and crafts in southeast Chester County. Community residents can compete in more than 500 categories and win ribbons and cash prizes. The fair is located at 113 East Street Road, Kennett Square.

The Unionville Community Fair began 100 years ago with 5 booths in the hallway of what is now Unionville Elementary School. The first year only corn was showcased, so the fair was called The Corn Show. The fair grew and soon had to be moved to the school gymnasium. It was then moved to a tent and the school bus garage. Many traditions have been maintained over the years and many more have been added.

The Harvest Queen Festival began in 1936 and is still held today as the Unionville Fair Queen. Proceeds from the Unionville Community Fair benefit several community organizations each year. For more information, visit www.ucfair.org.
