Ginna Community Information Evening, August 22 – The Times of Wayne County

Have you ever wondered how nuclear power is generated or how a nuclear power plant works? Find answers to these questions and many more by attending Ginna’s community information night. Plus, you’ll learn firsthand how the plant generates carbon-free nuclear energy in Wayne County, powering more than 425,000 homes. The free event will be held on Thursday, August 22nd from 4-8 p.m. in front of Ginna’s training center.

Plant staff will be on hand to talk to visitors about Ginna’s operations, maintenance, engineering procedures, environmental protection, radiation safety, emergency preparedness and more. Visitors can also tour the plant’s control room simulator, which is used to train reactor operators. This is a family-friendly event for all ages and there will be activities for children. The RE Ginna Clean Energy Center is located on a 426-acre site on the south shore of Lake Ontario in Ontario, NY, approximately 20 miles northeast of Rochester and 53 miles southwest of Constellation’s Nine Mile Point and James A. FitzPatrick Clean Energy Centers.
