Grandview Medical Center opens 10 new emergency rooms

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama (WBRC) – As demand for emergency services continues to rise, Grandview Medical Center is working to meet that need by adding new space to its emergency department.

Grandview has opened ten new emergency room treatment rooms, bringing the total to 32.

This comes at a time of urgent need as the hospital works to accommodate more ambulance patients.

Hospital staff said that before the expansion, they had to rely on additional treatment rooms that they had created to better care for patients, but now they can provide those in need of care with a more comfortable environment.

Since long waiting times for patients in the emergency room are a constant problem, the hospital hopes that the new space will make it possible to shorten these times and accommodate more patients.

The emergency department currently sees approximately 45,000 visits annually and the new treatment rooms will help better care for this growing number.

“This expansion allows us to not only meet, but exceed the needs of our community. I think it is a testament to our patients and the trust they place in us when seeking emergency care,” said Medical Director Kevin Cope.

Just a few days after the opening, the clinic is already using the new premises.
