GreenGasUSA partners with Wayne-Sanderson Farms for RNG production

GreenGasUSA has agreed to collaborate with Wayne-Sanderson Farms to produce renewable natural gas (RNG) at its facilities in the United States. The two companies said in a press release that they plan to use existing wastewater treatment and biogas plants to bring pipeline-quality RNG to market.

GreenGasUSA currently operates five RNG plants and one carbon dioxide (CO2) plant and is actively developing additional RNG and CO2 plants across the U.S. Wayne-Sanderson Farms is the third largest poultry producer in the country and owns and operates 23 fresh and processing plants in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina and Texas.

The companies plan to expand their collaboration by identifying and developing new RNG facilities at additional Wayne-Sanderson Farms poultry processing sites, focusing on sites with the greatest potential to reduce methane emissions and those that can efficiently integrate liquid CO2 recovery systems.

“Wayne-Sanderson Farms has already proven to be a leader in reducing waste and promoting the circular economy within its portfolio of operations. Combining the innovative strategies of the Wayne Sanderson facilities with GreenGas’ RNG expertise will ensure maximum RNG yields and environmental benefits on-site – including further reducing Scope 1 emissions in Wayne-Sanderson Farms’ carbon footprint,” said Marc Fetten, CEO and Founder of GreenGasUSA.

“We know that real progress in addressing environmental challenges comes only through collaboration, and we are excited to join GreenGasUSA at the forefront of innovation in renewable energy generation,” said Paul Billingsley, vice president of development and engineering at Wayne-Sanderson Farms. “This partnership demonstrates our unwavering commitment to minimizing our carbon footprint and our dedication to a more sustainable future.”

The deal with Wayne-Sanderson Farms follows GreenGasUSA’s deal with Darling Ingredients Inc. to produce RNG and capture CO2 from wastewater streams at Darling’s facilities in the United States.
