Halle Berry highlights her natural hair structure with a nostalgic curly bob

Halle Berry’s hair evolution isn’t one of signature curls and timeless charm. Unlike some of her fellow four-quadrant stars who stuck with their old hairstyles over the years, the Oscar winner has experimented with just about every trend there is – from her iconic 2000s pixie cut, reinterpreted with swept ends and super-short hair, to a square bob, to long, flowing hair, and beach-inspired waves.

And just when we thought she had mastered every hairstyle so far, the hair chameleon now presents herself with another award-winning hairstyle.

Similar to her old pixie cut, this new bob accentuates her natural curly hair texture and gives her gentle volume at the ends, thanks in part to the light caramel highlights worked into the middle of her hair.

Of course, this is not the first time that Berry has swapped her long hair for a shorter hairstyle. Vanity Fair At the 2023 Oscars after-party, she wore a curly, asymmetrical cut with a large side part. At the same event about ten years earlier, Berry wore a spiky pixie cut and a textured bob haircut at an awards ceremony in New York City in 2014.

To learn how to recreate her curly bob, you’ll need the help of a few products, says award-winning hairdresser, salon owner and co-founder of The Hair Consult, Edward James. “If you want to wear a curly bob, it’s important to focus on enhancing the natural texture while defining the waves and keeping humidity frizz at bay,” he explains.

“It’s important to use a curl enhancer product that fights frizz, such as Aveda’s Be Curly Curl Enhancer, which provides control and definition, or for finer hair, Color Wow Dream Coat for Curly Hair,” he adds.

The trick here is to enhance your natural pattern. “Twist and style for better curl definition; twist sections away from the face and let your hair air dry or use a diffuser to gently dry it without disturbing the wave pattern,” he adds. “Then finish with a lightweight setting spray like Oribe’s Impermeable Anti-Humidity Spray to lock in the style and keep frizz at bay throughout the day.”
