Hawaiian music takes center stage at the End of Summer Beach Bash

Residents reveled in the magic of a live performance of Polynesian music and dancing by Barefoot Hawaiian at the End of Summer Beach Bash on Friday, Aug. 9, at Clark Street Beach. The free event, hosted by the City of Evanston Parks and Recreation Department from 6 to 8 p.m., also included games, food and hula dance lessons — all against the backdrop of a postcard-worthy sunset over Lake Michigan.

Barefoot Hawaiian has been a source of Hawaiian, Tahitian and Polynesian entertainment in the Chicago area and beyond for 50 years, offering new shows each year. The theme for the group’s 2024 luau season is “Ride the Wave.”
