We know America’s Got Talent Judge and supermodel Heidi Klum as a bubbly blonde who loves to throw Halloween parties, but she was once a German teenager with amazing bone structure. And her trademark blonde curls were actually brown.

Heidi Klum’s children have inherited her looks and charisma

With her dark hair, she looks a lot like her daughter Leni, who still rocks her natural brunette shade from time to time. Klum herself has drawn the comparison: In an old Instagram picture, which you can see here, Klum stares into the lens of her early modeling days. “@leniklum, that’s me now at your age πŸ™ƒβ€οΈπŸ“ΈπŸ€ͺ,” said the AGT Judge captioned the photo. And they do indeed have a similar face. See Leni’s hard look here.

In fact, all of her children have a bit of hair. “We have a rule in the house,” Klum joked to PEOPLE. “Rule number one is to always look cool, and rule number two is to remember rule number one. We have other rules, but rule number one is to always look cool.”

Klum doesn’t always want to dress up completely and is known for rocking a no-makeup look on an evening out. “When I’m not working, I try to keep it very natural,” Klum said Harper’s Bazaar UK“Most days I don’t wear makeup, but when I’m running errands I use a light foundation to even out my skin tone and a little blush on my cheeks to give them a little glow.”

Klum’s German roots and her special talent

As a judge at AGTKlum sees a lot of talent… and a lot of non-talent. So she knows where her own strengths lie.

“I can sing, but not well!” Klum admitted during a visit to The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. “I sing in the shower… usually people cover their ears.” After Fallon asked, Klum offered, “Would you like me to sing something? Like a German song? I have a German yodeling song I could sing.” She not only sang, but yodeled, and the audience was very impressed.
