play

The kids are going back to school and with cooler temperatures and earlier sunsets, there’s a feeling of fall in the air. The clocks will soon be changing too.

Find out when daylight saving time ends in 2024.

When will the clocks change this year?

Daylight saving time ends at 2 a.m. on November 3, 2024 and then resets to 1 a.m.

Do we lose an hour or do we gain an hour?

In autumn, the clocks go back an hour. You have an extra hour to sleep or play.

In spring, the clocks go forward an hour. When you wake up in the morning, you have lost an hour.

When are the longest and shortest days of 2024?

The summer solstice gave us the longest day of the year on June 20, 2024, with a whopping 15 hours of daylight.

The remainder of August will continue to bring us over 13 hours of daylight as the countdown to winter has begun.

The winter solstice brings us the shortest day of the year on Saturday, December 21st, giving us about nine hours and 19 minutes of daylight.

Why do we change the clocks every year?

According to the Farmer’s Almanac, the idea behind daylight saving time is to give us more daylight on summer evenings and then shift the time back to give us more daylight on winter mornings.
