Here’s how San Bernardino businesses can get up to ,000 to improve their storefronts – San Bernardino Sun

Businesses in several major San Bernardino business districts can apply for grants of up to $20,000 through the city’s Paintbrush Program to improve the curb appeal of their building.

The application period for the facade renovation program begins on Monday, August 26th.

The funds would allow local business owners to improve awnings, windows, walkways and other exterior features such as signage, lighting and landscaping. Improvements must improve or restore the exterior physical condition or appearance of the business and be visible from the public street, the city said in a news release.

To finance the program, the city council has allocated one million dollars from federal Corona aid funds.

Businesses that opened before March 2020 are eligible for up to $20,000, while those that opened after March 2020 are eligible for up to $10,000, the city said. Businesses must have a valid business license and attend a counseling session with a representative of the city’s Small Business Development Center.

Grants will be awarded on a first come, first served basis to companies in the following corridors:

  • Downtown San Bernardino
  • Mt. Vernon Avenue – between Highland Avenue and Mill Street
  • E Street – between 30th Street and Mill Street
  • Waterman Avenue – between Highland Avenue and Mill Street
  • 40th Street/E Street – between Little Mountain Drive and 31st Street
  • Highland Avenue – between Macy Street and Mt. Vernon Avenue
  • Highland Avenue – between Victoria Avenue and Boulder Avenue
  • Fifth Street – between Rancho Avenue and Victoria Avenue
  • Base Line Street – between Meridian Avenue and Mt. Vernon Avenue
  • Base Line Street – between 215 Freeway and Victoria Avenue
  • Redlands Boulevard – between Waterman Avenue and Gage Canal
