Honda Prologue leasing cheaper than Civic with up to ,250 savings

Honda’s new Prologue electric SUV has become an unexpectedly affordable option, with leasing costs now exceeding those of the Civic thanks to significant Labor Day discounts.

The 2024 Honda Prologue, which has been available at U.S. dealers since March, starts at $47,400 for a significantly cheaper lease price than the Civic. The Prologue, which is based on GM’s Ultium platform and offers up to 296 miles of range, is now available for just $299 per month on a 36-month lease. With a $1,000 lease bonus and $750 in Labor Day Dealer Cash, the monthly payment can drop to $269, compared to the Civic LX’s $239 monthly lease price after rebates. Despite the Prologue’s higher MSRP, the lease savings make it a more economical choice.

By comparison, a Honda Civic LX leases for $239 per month, with $3,599 due at signing. That’s a total of $333 per month, or $8 more than the Prologue, even though the Civic costs nearly half as much as the Prologue.

SUV rebates include a $7,500 EV tax credit, $5,000 captive lease cash, $1,000 lease offers and $750 Labor Day dealer cash. While the best deals are in California and other zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) states, significant savings are possible in other regions as well.

In addition, Honda’s luxury brand Acura has reduced leasing prices for its Acura ZDX electric SUV. With a total discount of almost $30,000, the lease is over $100 cheaper per month than the Tesla Model Y.
