Hong Kong police raid Pokémon card shop

The police in Hong Kong have carried out a major raid on Pokemon Card shop allegedly used as a cover for storing drugs. The major drug bust uncovered over a million dollars worth of narcotics.




According to the South China Morning Post, police searched the shop and the house Pokemon Trading cards and merchandise, on August 19. After a thorough investigation, officers intercepted a 28-year-old man for a search outside the store and discovered 5 kilos of crystal meth. They brought him back to the Pokemon card shop, where they found another 16 kilos of meth in the staff rest area. So far, police have seized 21 kilos of drugs worth $1.3 million. The arrested suspect is one of the shop owners and could face a life sentence. Hong Kong authorities believe the operation was part of a larger drug ring in the area, and investigations are ongoing.


Police said the seized drugs were in Pokemon Card shop were not distributed or sold to customers or people playing card games in the shop. Investigators also confirmed that no teenagers or children were involved in the drug trafficking. “But keeping such a large quantity of narcotics in a place where teenagers and children may be present is irresponsible and disgraceful behavior, which also increases the possible risk of teenagers and children accidentally coming into contact with illegal drugs,” explained Liong Chun-Hin, inspector of the Hong Kong Drugs Bureau.


Pokémon TCG Pocket introduces new cards

The Pokémon Company recently released brand new cards for the Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocketincluding a first look at an Articuno-Ex card and full-art versions of Squirtle and Pidgeot. The Pokémon World Championships featured several non-competitive events and surprises as Pokémon fans got a glimpse of the Pokémon Trading Card Game (Bag) App coming later this year.


At the event, fans were able to open Genetic climax Card packs that will help launch the new card app. While several cards used artwork from physical card sets, they got a look at the new cards, including the Articuno Ex card as well as full-art versions of Squirtle and Pidgeot.

Like other Pokémon Trading Card Game (Bag) Cards, the new Articuno-Ex, Squirtle and Pidgeot cards seem to use similar mechanics as the original Pokémon Trading Card Game App. Articuno ex gives two prizes when eliminated, just like Pokémon Ex cards in the original game. However, the cards generally seem to have lower HP and lower energy costs for moves, which may have a positive effect on game speed.
