Hörmann relocates distribution center to Liberty Lake

HOrmann Group North America Inc., through its subsidiary HOrmann Northwest Door LLC is moving its Inland Northwest sales center from the Spokane Business & Industrial Park in Spokane Valley to Liberty Lake.

HOrmann Group North America is part of the Germany-basedOrmann Group, a global manufacturer and distributor of residential and commercial garage doors as well as high performance garage doors.

The facility in Liberty Lake is being built 2526 N. Fairway Lane and will serve as a warehouse and sales center for the company and Eastern Washington, Northern Idaho and Western Montana.

The new premises will improve customer service and increase product volume.Ormann can distribute in the region, says Alice Permigiani, editor-in-chief and PR specialist at HOrmann.

“We expect sales to increase and will be able to better meet (these sales) with a more modern and larger facility,” says Permigiani.

Visible from Interstate 90 and north of Appleway Avenue and the Huntwood Custom Cabinets factory, tThe Liberty Lake distribution center will be used for residential and commercial sectional doors, the same types of doors manufactured at the company’s manufacturing plant in Puyallup, Washington.

Sectional doors are divided horizontally into several wings, open vertically and are suspended from the ceiling.

Prices of commercial and residential garage doors vary depending on product selection and customization options, Permigiani adds.

Construction of the approximately 3,250 square meter sales center began in May and is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2025. A building permit filed with the City of Liberty Lake indicates a construction value of approximately $3.6 million.

Plans for possible future phases include an additional 3,250 square meters of space on the site, Permigiani says.

Initially, the new distribution center will employ eight people, but within a few years this number is expected to grow to at least 20.

The facility will be equipped with high-quality shelving systems similar to those used in the Puyallup manufacturing plant.

“It will basically be state-of-the-art, so customers will be able to access materials much more easily,” says Permigiani. “They won’t have to wait. They’ll be able to pick things up quicker than they used to.”

There will also be an exhibition area on site where retailers can bring their customers and show them the products.

“Our dealers who sell the product line with attachments have access to the sales centers where they can pick up the products,” says Permigiani.

The Liberty Lake distribution center will serve over 200 garage door dealers throughout the Northwest. HOrmann dealers are independent companies that sell, install and service HOrmann Products to their offers.

Permigiani says the 2-acre site at Liberty Lake was chosen because it is close to the existing distribution center, offers additional space for future expansion and is close to the highway, providing easier access for dealers.

The move to Liberty Lake also comes ahead of the expected growth at HOrmann, due to more uniform product lines nationwide.

“We are harmonizing the product line specifically for the home,” says Permigiani. “We used to have different models depending on the region.”

“With this in mind, we expect overall sales to increase across all areas,” she says. “With our manufacturing facility in Puyallup not far away, we expect further growth over the next five years.”

The new facility has six loading ramps, all with HOrmann doors, dock levelers and dock seals. There will also be two “will-call” doors that will allow the sales center to serve four dealers at once, Permigiani says.

The architect of the project is Knoxville, Tennessee-based MBI Companies Inc. The company also designed HOÅrmann’s North American headquarters are located in Sparta, Tennessee.

The contractor for the project is TW Clark Construction LLC, based in Spokane Valley.

HOrmann was founded in 1935 in Steinhagen, Germany. The company entered the North American market in 2006 with the purchase of Montgomery, Illinois-based garage door manufacturer GADCO. It later expanded its presence with the purchase of three more garage door manufacturers, including Northwest Door in Puyallup.

HOrmann operates 40 manufacturing facilities worldwide and employs over 6,000 people. The company has five manufacturing facilities in North America, two of which produce high-performance doors used in parking garages, fire stations, warehouses, auto dealerships, and other industrial and commercial areas. The other three plants, including the one in Puyallup, focus on sectional doors for commercial and residential buildings.
