How do Ohio’s water systems fare in tests for the “eternal chemical” PFAS?

play

According to a USA TODAY analysis, more than 1,000 drinking water systems across the United States have been found to contain so-called “forever” chemicals that exceed limits set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Per- and polyfluorinated alkyl substances (PFAS) are a group of more than 12,000 synthetic chemicals used in a variety of common applications, from coating fast-food packaging and nonstick cookware to firefighting foams and other purposes. They have been linked to certain cancers, fertility problems and other health issues, according to the Columbus Dispatch.
