Users of the popular mobile payment application, CashApp can now demand money from the service following a $15 million settlement. For those wondering how this is possible, Cash App was sued by several customers who claimed that there was a security breach and many users’ data was accessed without permission in 2022 and 2023. Therefore, as a result of this 2021 lawsuit, Cash App has reached a settlement for all users affected by this security breach.

Here’s everything you need to know about who is eligible for the Cash App statement and how to claim the money.

How do I file a Cash App compensation claim?

According to a report by CBS News, users can submit a claim for compensation payments through Cash App using a short form.

The form is available on the mobile payment service’s website, where users will have to provide a notification ID and verification code to make the claim. Users have the option to receive these details via email. The deadline for the form is November 18, 2024.

Who is eligible for Cash App billing?

According to the details available on the website, anyone who was affected by “allegedly unauthorized and fraudulent withdrawals and money transfers to or from” is eligible for the Cash App settlement. Apart from that, the website also states that after filing the claim, affected users “can receive compensation for settlement benefits, including payment of any cash withdrawals, lost time or transaction losses from this settlement.”

According to the Cash App settlement, users can receive up to $2,500 when filing a claim for compensation for losses. For time lost of up to three hours, users can receive $25 per hour. For claims for transaction losses, users must submit a copy of the police report.

Cash App mentioned on its website that it and its parent company Block Inc. dispute the claims made in the lawsuit.
