Floyd Mayweather is back in the ring this weekend looking to settle scores with the mobster’s grandson, John Gotti III. As strange as it may sound, this is the next in a long line of exhibition fights Mayweather has competed in since officially retiring from the ring in 2017, and it’s not the first time the two have fought each other.

In July 2023, Mayweather and Gotti III fought an exhibition fight in Florida that ended in madness when a brawl broke out inside and outside the ring after referee Kenny Bayless stopped the fight in the sixth round. Now both fighters will travel to Mexico City for the second round.

The rematch between Floyd Mayweather and John Gotti III will take place at the CDMX Arena in Mexico City. The first exhibition fight between the two took place at the FLA Live Arena in Sunrise, Florida.

Floyd Mayweather and John Gotti III faced each other for the first time in an exhibition fight in Florida in June 2023.

Although the fight was not scored and no official winner was declared, Mayweather made light work of Gotti for six rounds until the fight was stopped. Referee Kenny Bayless suddenly stopped the fight as Gotti was constantly holding him, causing chaos that spilled into the stands.

After the stoppage, Gotti continued to try to hit Mayweather, which caused both fighters’ acolytes to rush into the ring and create a commotion. When the boxers finally returned to the dressing rooms, the fight in the ring spilled into the stands and lasted for several minutes.

Gotti was subsequently suspended for six months by the Florida State Athletic Commission.

The fight between Floyd Mayweather and John Gotti III will be contested over eight rounds of two minutes each, just like the first exhibition fight between the two.

Another change is that there will be no judges to officially score the fight. A final winner can only be determined by knockout. Although no winner was determined in the first fight, Mayweather dominated Gotti until the referee stopped the fight.
