US ARMY GARRISON HUMPHREYS – Brayden Snow chose a good time to start participating in the exchange’s “You Made the Grade” program: He won third place in his first participation in the global drawing.

Children of military members like Brayden in first through 12th grade with a grade point average of B or better can bring their report card to the exchange each grading period and receive a $10 or $20 gift card and an exchange coupon sheet that includes coupons for free meals in the food court, a free haircut, PX discounts and more. Students can then enter the global drawing twice a year for a chance to win an exchange gift card valued at $2,000, $1,500 or $500. Brayden’s entry was randomly selected from more than 1,800 entries.

Brayden’s father, Mark Snow, a civilian in the U.S. State Department who served 20 years with the U.S. Forces in Korea, appreciates the incentive the academic program offers students.

“It encourages kids to do well in school and try harder in the future,” Snow said. “The reward system works, the benefits are great and the kids really enjoy all the free stuff.”

Brayden, who is entering fourth grade at Humphreys West Elementary, received his award at a presentation at the PX on August 8. He plans to use his winnings to purchase a computer or iPad. He is a frequent visitor to the PX with his family.

“I like the electronics department because I can try out different computers and games there,” he says.

Brayden is good at math (his favorite subject, besides sports) and wants to become an engineer later.

“Brayden enjoys solving puzzles and math problems,” his father said. “He is a dedicated and well-behaved student. He is responsible and always completes his schoolwork early or on time.”

George McNamara, General Manager of USAG Humphreys Exchange, helped present Brayden with his award.

“This young man has a bright future ahead of him,” McNamara said. “It is a pleasure for the exchange to be part of his academic journey and to reward him for all the hard work he has put into his studies.”
