Sometimes the best duos in film and television aren’t two people who get along great, but two people who are opposites and messy in the best way possible. This is currently best exemplified by the latest Marvel film in order: Deadpool and Wolverineas we have a witty, fourth-wall-breaking mercenary with a gruff, clawed alcoholic mutant struggling with survivor guilt. A more classic example is Goku and Vegeta from Dragon Ball Zbut what happens when you put these high-level Z Fighters together with these Marvel mutants? Some fan art has come up with this reinterpretation, and I love the results.
Vegeta being fused with Wolverine should come as no surprise to anyone even remotely familiar with either trait. Both are angry types who can’t stand their more light-hearted partner, although at least Wolverine doesn’t have the power to destroy planets like Vegeta, the Prince of the Saiyans. At least that’s what Vegeta would look like if he donned Wolverine’s yellow costume and adamantium claws, courtesy of salvamakoto.
This fusion just works great, doesn’t it? I can also imagine Vegeta saying, “I’m the best at what I do, and what I do is not very nice.” As for Goku and Deadpool, the following artwork shows the main protagonist from the Dragon Ball Franchise (created by the late Akira Toriyama) does not use Wade Wilson’s mask, as that wonderfully spiky hairstyle still has to be shown, but otherwise he looks pretty good in his role as the big-mouthed mercenary:
Say what you want about Deadpool and Wolverinebut at least they did not start their relationship as direct enemies. That was the case with Goku and Vegeta when the latter appeared on Earth with Nappa at the beginning of Dragon Ball ZHowever, when villains like Frieza and Cell started causing havoc, Goku and Vegeta were able to put aside their differences and become allies. Logan and Wade Wilson are now on equal footing, although I would like to believe that with the way Deadpool and Wolverine ends, they will end up having a closer relationship than Goku and Vegeta, even if they won’t necessarily become best friends.
Whether we will ever see Deadpool and Wolverine together on the big screen again remains to be seen. Given the fact that Avengers: Endgame And Avengers: Secret Wars will continue exploring the Marvel Multiverse (we are in the Multiverse Saga after all), don’t be surprised if they return in the upcoming Marvel movies. If we look back at Goku and Vegeta, they will both be for Dragon Ball Zthe new anime series that will premiere this October in the 2024 television schedule.
Deadpool and Wolverine is still in theaters, but you can expect it to be available to stream with a Disney+ subscription before the end of the year. If you like shows like Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z Kai, Dragon Ball Z And Dragon Ball Superall you need is a Hulu subscription.
