“I legalized marijuana in Ohio,” says rapper Afroman, toasting his fellow Ohioans with a pink and gold goblet – Acreage Holdings (OTC:ACRHF)

Grammy-nominated rapper Afro-Roman – an Ohio native known for his hit song “Because I Got High” – celebrated the legalization of recreational marijuana in a hilarious social media video in which he champions the legalization of weed in the Buckeye State.

In the five-minute clip, which airs on NBC4, Afroman, whose real name is Joseph Foreman, raised a large pink and gold goblet and greeted his fellow Ohioans with a hearty “You’re welcome” as he toasted the new law.

“I legalized marijuana in Ohio,” Afroman said. “I want to thank all the people who supported me and stayed on the ground like four flat tires.”

Let’s have a new holiday!

“I want to toast my fellow Ohioans. Yes, marijuana is now legal in the state of Ohio. Today is our day of liberation,” Afroman said. “No one else in Ohio is being searched for having marijuana. No one is having their door kicked in and their house ransacked for having marijuana.”

Afroman was referring to a raid on his home in the southern Ohio city of Winchester two years ago, when local sheriffs entered with guns drawn but found nothing illegal.

Nevertheless, it provided Afroman with material for several songs in which he used footage from the police cameras in his house.

His songs included “Lemon Pound Cake,” in which an officer is caught staring at a plate of pound cakes in Afroman’s kitchen, and another called “Will You Help Me Fix My Door.”

Freedom of expression and presidential candidacy

“Now that I’ve legalized marijuana in the state of Ohio, I have to fight for free speech. And just as I legalized marijuana in Ohio, I can legalize it across the United States if you put Afroman in office. I just want to make that clear,” he said, raising the pink and gold goblet. “So here’s to you, Ohio. Today is a good day. Congratulations.”
