It’s been five years since Apple announced it would be adding services to its hardware and software businesses. While iCloud was one of the first subscriptions modern Apple users took advantage of, it’s far from the only service the company offers.
Currently, users can access Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, Apple News+, Apple Fitness+, and even Apple Card. Moreover, iCloud is more than just a storage service; it also offers other attractive features such as Private Relay, Hide my Email, and Custom Email.
However, for a better iPhone, iPad, and Mac experience, iCloud is almost essential, so it’s only natural that it remains Apple’s most popular service. If you don’t subscribe to it, you’ll have to back up your devices locally, you can’t easily get a synced photo library, and so on.
In its latest report, CIRP highlighted the most important services offered by Apple, and the results are as expected:
- 64% of Apple buyers pay for iCloud
- 42% of Apple buyers subscribe to Apple Music
- 37% of Apple buyers use Apple Podcasts
- 35% of Apple buyers add AppleCare to iPad
- 32% of Apple buyers use Apple TV+
This data shows that Apple users are using Apple services more often. But some are paying too much for their subscriptions. Here’s why.
With an Apple One subscription, users can access at least Apple Music, 50GB of iCloud, Apple TV+, and Apple Arcade for $19.95/month. However, since the numbers for iCloud, Apple Music, and Apple TV+ are different, it shows that not only are people not using Apple One, they also prefer to pay for these services individually.
One reason for this is that some Spotify users are diehard fans and therefore won’t switch to Apple Music. However, if you subscribe to Apple Music and Apple TV+, it immediately becomes more advantageous to use Apple One rather than paying for those services separately.
And if 50GB isn’t enough for you, the second tier of Apple One gives you 200GB of storage. However, you can share all subscriptions with up to five other family members, which increases the value of this service even further.
