Come join the SciFri Book Club and celebrate our October reading. What if we get it right?: Visions for the climate futureas part of Climate Week NYC. On stage, author Ayana Elizabeth Johnson will speak about how the future of our world and solutions to climate change lie at the intersection of science, politics, culture and justice. Attendees will also have the opportunity to create their own climate action Venn diagram with help from Ayana and other climate visionaries.

You haven’t read the book yet? No problem! You can take part whether you have already read the author’s latest book or not. What if we get it right?: Visions for the climate future. We will talk about themes and topics covered in the book that can be fun for all participants, as long as you are ready and willing to talk about climate change; science in dialogue with data, poetry and art; hope vs. positivity vs. action in the face of crisis; community building and social justice; and much more.

SELECTED GUESTS:

  • Ayana Elizabeth Johnson (she/her) is a marine biologist, policy expert, and writer based in Brooklyn. She is co-founder of the nonprofit think tank Urban Ocean Lab, co-founder of the climate initiative The All We Can Save Project, and co-creator of the podcast How to Save a Planet. She is the author of the SciFri Book Club’s October read, “What If We Get It Right?: Visions of Climate Futures.”
