Here’s a tip: Dublin-based Ryanair seems to fly everywhere in Europe. And when I say everywhere, I mean everywhere.

Košice? Yep.

Paderborn? Uh, yes, but where is that?

In addition, there are more remote destinations such as Ouarzazate, where Google Translate is very useful even for pronunciation.

The point is: if you’re looking for the hidden gems of Europe (and some North African and Middle Eastern ones), Ryanair is the place to go.

Now, this article is not intended to be free advertising for Ryanair, although the company’s vibrant social media accounts might suggest that.

The purpose of this article is to show why you should visit Sanremo, one of Italy’s most beautiful, lesser-known treasures, which is most easily reached by – you guessed it – connecting with Ryanair… and it’s cheap too!

Hidden away on the northwest coast of Italy lies a paradise with incredible food and beach atmosphere galore.

August is here and summer is already coming to an end. Can you believe it?!

While the heat is raging in much of Europe, including some popular destinations in Italy, the northwest coast, especially Sanremo, precisely.

For the rest of August, you can expect temperatures around 26 degrees, a comfortable range for beachgoers.

Not too hot and not too cold.

Unlike Barcelona, for example, where temperatures are still above 30 degrees, Sanremo is perfect for lounging on the beach, swimming or exploring all the charming places of this historic city without melting into mush.

The little-known paradise of the Italian Riviera

Although the Amalfi Coast often overshadows it, we should not forget that France is not the only Riviera worth a wonderful holiday.

The Italian Riviera, also known as the Ligurian Riviera, stretches from the outskirts of Monaco to beyond Genoa and offers scenic stopovers along the coast, including beautiful Sanremo.

With crystal clear waters and lively streets full of character around every corner, you’ll completely forget about the Colosseum in Rome, the crowded beaches of Amalfi and the romance of Venice.

Some would even say that Sanremo has more of a Mediterranean feel than an Italian one, but “tomato, tomahto”. Paradise is paradise.

And there is hardly a paradise without world-class beaches. The downside is that some of Sanremo’s beaches charge an entrance fee.

These are the three best beaches in Sanremo according to TripAdvisor:

  • Three Bridges
  • Stabilimento Balneare Bagni Lido Foce
  • Paradise Beach

The crystal clear water and golden sand characterize beaches like Paradise Beach You won’t wonder where you are. You’ll just be happy to be here.

Just minutes from the heart of the city, this pristine beach is not only beautiful but also extremely affordable and a great place to spend countless hours.

Renting two beach chairs and an umbrella costs only about $10 – all the more reason to indulge in local cuisine.

Discover the heart of Sanremo

No matter what your destination, the action usually takes place in the city center.

Although Sanremo generally has a quiet atmosphere, its charming cobbled streets and narrow corners invite you to explore.

A word of warning: prepare yourself for a sensory overload of breathtaking sights and the tastes and aromas of world-famous Italian cuisine.

And who doesn’t enjoy any excuse for a cappuccino?

In some of the world’s most popular travel destinations, a single meal can cost a fortune. But not in San Remo.

A local brew will cost around $2, while local delicacies like cappon magro and Ligurian pasta shouldn’t cost more than $15 – definitely not outrageous.

Be sure to leave room for dessert: Baci di Sanremo, soft chocolate biscuits served with coffee.

Once you’ve had your fill, you can explore the city on foot and discover all of Sanremo’s interesting sights, including the unmissable San Siro Cathedral.

Come here

To come back, Ryanair is the most convenient and, according to the Irish Sun, often the cheapest way, with flights under $22.

Travelers can fly to Nice in France and from there take Flixbus and/or Lignes d’Azur to Sanremo in an hour and a half.

Sanremo does not have an airport, so this is the most efficient route after flying to Genoa.
