INDOT holds public hearing on the planned SR 8 project

DEKALB CO., Ind. (ADAMS) – The public is invited to attend a public hearing with open house, presentations and comment periods on proposed plans for the State Road 8 Access Management Project.

The Indiana Department of Transportation released the following:

Project representatives will discuss the purpose and need for the SR 8 road construction project, 0.10 miles east to 0.60 miles east of the I-69 interchange. INDOT has proposed replacing the two-lane left-turn lane with a raised concrete median. Openings for left turns and U-turns will be added to provide access for businesses, and additional turning lanes will be added at the Touring Drive and Grandstaff Drive intersections to reduce congestion. The access road on the south side of SR 8 will be replaced with an eastbound right-turn lane. In addition, new sidewalks and curb ramps that meet ADA requirements will be installed on both sides of SR 8.

WHEN: Thursday, August 8. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., presentation begins at 6:30 p.m.

WHERE: Middaugh Hall, 708 South Union Street, Auburn, IN 46706

WHY: The goal of the project is to reduce the average crash frequency and improve overall safety and traffic flow along SR 8 in Dekalb County, Indiana.
