Insider: CeeDee Lamb’s contract extension with the Cowboys “will be finalized”

As the days pass and Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season quickly approaches, concerns about CeeDee Lamb’s departure from the Dallas Cowboys continue to grow. Although there is very little public information regarding negotiations between the two sides, one of the top NFL insiders offered fans a reason for reassurance.

During ESPN’s NFL Live on Monday, Adam Schefter discussed Lamb’s contract situation with the Cowboys and stated that the deal “is getting done,” as Blogging the Boys detailed.

“It would be a huge disappointment if CeeDee Lamb wasn’t there for the start of the regular season…now I don’t know if they can bridge the differences, which aren’t that big, this week or next week or the week after that. But this deal is going to happen. It would be shocking and absolutely stupid if it didn’t happen in time for the start of the regular season,” Schefter explained.

“So they’ll find a way. It’s disappointing that it’s taken this long, but the fact that they can’t get this deal done is hard to imagine… It should be easy to get it done. And the full expectation is that it will be done and in time for the start of the regular season. So until then, this is just a lot of noise.”

While the Cowboys and Lamb remain at an impasse and Jerry Jones’ recent comments about a lack of urgency aren’t making anyone feel good about the situation, it does appear that the two sides are slowly moving toward an agreement.

Lamb, of course, would not participate in the preseason games either way, but his absence from training camp is not ideal for a Cowboys team that faces numerous question marks on offense heading into 2024.
