Insights into the legal problems of the former star quarterback of the Ohio State Buckeyes

A former star quarterback for the Ohio State Buckeyes has been in the news recently due to legal troubles. That former star quarterback is Art Schlichter.

Last Friday, a court filed charges against Schlicter. The most recent incident against the 64-year-old occurred in February when he was stopped by an Ohio Highway Patrol officer.

During the traffic stop, the police officer found suspected cocaine. He is now scheduled to appear in Franklin County Court on September 3.

Schlichter reportedly gave the police officer two glass pipes during their conversation.

In a video of the incident, Schlichter twice told the officer that he played football for Ohio State, apparently an attempt to get away with things because of who he was on the football field.

What makes matters worse is that Schlichter was already on probation for cocaine possession at the time of the latest incident. In June 2022, the former Ohio State star was found unconscious in a hotel room near the town of Hilliard.

Before his drug offenses, Schlichter was in trouble for another type of crime. He was in prison for a ticket scam that defrauded people of millions.

Needless to say, it is a sad story if one only looks at Schlichter’s legal track record.

Looking back at Schlichter’s career at Ohio State, he played four years for the Buckeyes between 1978 and 1981. He threw for 6,584 yards, 44 touchdowns and 42 interceptions. Schlichter also managed 1,285 yards on the ground and 33 touchdowns.

We will provide further updates as they become available. The September 3rd court date for mediators is imminent and more information and details will likely be available.
