Insta360 has announced two new updates to its Insta360 app designed to make it easier to edit 360º footage from Insta360 cameras.
With this update, the software uses AI to detect objects or subjects in the footage and then automatically filters out the best shots. The other new feature includes 40 camera movement templates that can be automatically inserted to create smooth transitions between keyframes.
The updates are available for all 360º capture from Insta360 cameras, including X4, X3, X2 and RS (with the 360º lens). The following video introduces the new app updates and gives a quick overview of why they are available:

360º editing just got a whole lot smarter. The new update to the Insta360 app brings some incredible improvements and over 40 preset motion templates that make editing a breeze. Automatic scene detection
Immersive stories in seconds. AI now recognizes the objects or subjects in the footage and the interaction between them. Combined with scene detection (the type of video, e.g. winter sports or travel), it automatically filters the best shots for you to select and export.
This means that the app can not only identify the child and parent, but also the interaction between them to create a story. Amazing, right?
Over 40 templates for automatic movements
Creating dynamic videos doesn’t have to be difficult. If you’re not sure how to create movement between keyframes, use the new automatic templates that do it for you! Roll, pan, pinch, and more between points in the timeline with just a few taps.
To add motion, tap the yellow + icon at the start point, adjust the perspective, tap Motion and choose a template. You can drag it across the timeline to make it as slow or as fast as you like and adjust the perspective of the end point. When you’re done, the video will smoothly transition between points and dynamic motion will be created in a snap!
You can add and modify movements in AI Edit and Pro Edit in the Insta360 app.
