Is the “Greek Freak” stingy? NBA player Giannis Antetokounmpo caught bargain hunting in New York City

The NBA isn’t allowed to pay as much as it once did. At least that’s what it seems like since a two-time MVP was caught shopping at Target after Greece was knocked out of the quarterfinals at the Paris Olympics this month.

According to Forbes, Giannis Antetokounmpo has a net worth of $111 million. In December 2020, he signed a five-year supermax extension worth $228 million with the Bucks before adding a three-year extension in October 2023. He also boasts endorsement deals with Breitling and Nike, as well as collections of BMW cars and Rolex watches. However, “The Greek Freak” is not too good to go bargain hunting like the rest of us, as he proved on Saturday, according to the Daily Mail:

NBA superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo will make more than $48 million this season — but he clearly still appreciates a good deal, because he was spotted in the low-price section of a Target in New York City on Saturday. The Bucks star, who recently returned from the Paris Olympics, was seen shopping in a FiDi branch of the store. And one observer even told Mail Sport that the “Greek Freak” was sure to use his Target rewards number when paying.

One way to stay rich is to not spend all your money – something Antetokounmpo has obviously taken this to heart.

The next time you see him running down the court in your hometown, dunking the ball and blocking shot attempts, just know that you might find the NBA Defensive Player of the Year (2020) and NBA Finals MVP (2021) at a Target near you.
