ORLANDO, Florida. – Hot on the heels of the Lake Mary All-Stars’ victory in the Little League World Series championship game, News 6 looks at superstitions in baseball.

News 6 anchor Justin Warmoth – who has been with the team in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, since its inception – shared his own superstitions from the tournament.

Warmoth said he and photojournalist Daniel Macaluso ate at the same breakfast joint in Williamsport before every game except the day Lake Mary suffered its first loss.

It’s become something of a tradition at the Little League World Series to slide down the hill overlooking the field at Lamade Stadium before games, and Warmoth participated in every Lake Mary game except the one they lost.

Jacob Bibaud, an outfielder and pitcher for the Lake Mary All-Star League, told News 6 that his pregame ritual is to “put on my cleats five minutes before the game. It’s just a matter of luck every time.”

An article in Bleacher Report highlights some of the “50 Weirdest Superstitions of All Time” in baseball.

These include players wearing two different socks, a player wearing the same cap every time he pitches, a lengthy routine when entering the batter’s box that involves covering his batting helmet with pine tar, and Joe DiMaggio running from the team bench to his seat in center field while making sure to touch second base.
