Congresswoman Joyce Beatty represents Ohio’s 3rd congressional district, which includes Columbus. She delivered the following speech on the first day of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
I was born in the Buckeye State and have never left.
JD Vance likes to say he’s from Ohio, but as soon as he could, he ran away and studied at Yale and Silicon Valley – where he became accustomed to billionaires and denigrated our communities.
JD has been our Senator for 18 months and what has he done for hardworking Americans?
Nothing.
He was busy writing the foreword for the Project 2025 guy’s book.
While JD and Donald Trump were spreading conspiracy theories from the darkest corners of our internet, Kamala Harris and Joe Biden were busy expanding access to the internet.
While other men criticize childless women, Joe and Kamala have expanded the child tax allowance.
And I can tell you one thing: we will reduce the poverty rate of our children.
At the same time, Kamala and Joe Biden have also reduced the cost of health care for our seniors and, yes, implemented a $35 cap on insulin.
It’s JD in Trump, they want to take us back to the past.
