Jerry Salley inducted into the Ohio Country Music Hall of Fame

NASHVILLE, Tennessee – With nearly 600 songs and countless hits in a variety of genres, Jerry Salley has had quite an impressive career over the past 40 years.

The release of The Songwriter earlier this year was something of an anomaly in Nashville, where at all hours of the day and night, several songwriters huddle in office corners, studios and cafes, crafting what they hope will be the next mega-hit. But for Jerry, who had enjoyed decades of successful co-writing, the idea of writing alone again was his calling. With solitude and silence as his companions, Salley found a spark of inspiration and wrote all 12 tracks on his new album, which is currently in the Top 15 Albums chart of the National Bluegrass Survey.

This album, which was created “over a lifetime,” has caught the attention of radio and other industry insiders. Last week, it was announced that Salley will be inducted into the Ohio Country Music Hall of Fame later this month.

“With the induction of songwriter and singer Jerry Salley, the Ohio Country Music Hall of Fame remains true to its commitment to honoring Ohio natives who have made a contribution to preserving the genre of traditional country music,” said Director Jackie Thomas. “Jerry is a proud native and a true ambassador for the great state of Ohio, and he truly honors the Ohio Country Music Hall of Fame’s mission of ‘preserving the past to secure the future for generations to come.'”

Salley joins an illustrious list of previous inductees that includes Connie Smith, Bobby Bare, Earl Thomas Conley, Shelly West and others. The inductions took place on August 10 at Keepin’ It Country Farm in Waynesville.
