Jessie Reyez announces a new collaboration with one of the biggest names in the rap scene.
The Canadian singer has hinted that she is releasing new music with Lil Wayne, posting on Instagram and X “hheard a Toronto shordie got 1 Joke @LilTunechi” and tagged Wayne. She also shared a short clip of the track, which features Reyez and Wayne performing over a slow guitar riff and a banging drum fill.
According to the teaser, the song seems to be released on August 23rd. Billboards have also been spotted promoting the upcoming collaboration.
Reyez hasn’t released a full album since 2022 Yes indeed. But since then, she’s released a string of singles and collaborations, including this year’s sultry trap track “Shut Up,” which featured Big Sean.
Jessie Reyez and Lil Wayne previously worked together on Lil Wayne’s “Love You, F*ck You” from his 2020 album Burial.
The new single comes just before Reyez’s honor at Billboard Canada’s Women in Music celebration on September 7, where she is set to accept the Trailblazer Award.
The ceremony also includes Guest of honour Alanis Morissettewho will win the Icon Award. The star-studded event will honor previously announced winners Allison Russell, LU Kala, The Beaches and others yet to be announced.
