Joel Klatt has jumped on the Ohio State football bandwagon.
The Fox college football commentator and former Colorado quarterback not only has the Buckeyes as his No. 1 team for the 2024 season. When Klatt announced his 12 teams on “The Joel Klatt Show,” he went much further.
He seeded Ohio State as the eventual No. 1 seed in the first 12-team College Football Playoff, giving the Buckeyes an edge over Georgia because OSU’s “schedule is more favorable.”
In the CFP, Klatt has Ohio State beat No. 8 Penn State in the Rose Bowl and No. 5 Notre Dame in the Orange Bowl, a decision he said would be helped by Georgia’s CFP semifinal matchup against Texas in the Cotton Bowl.
After wins over the Nittany Lions and Fighting Irish, Klatt doesn’t think the Buckeyes will let up in the national championship game against Texas.
“Because Texas let it all out, I don’t think they have enough, and my national champion is going to be Ohio State. I had them as my No. 1 team in the preseason. I have them as my No. 1 seed in the playoffs. I think the Buckeyes are going to go on and win the national championship.”
While Ohio State has the best odds to win the Big Ten (+150) and make the College Football Playoff (-650) at DraftKings Sportsbook, the Buckeyes have the second-best odds to win the 2025 College Football Playoff National Championship game (+380). Georgia leads at +300.
Ohio State opens the 2024 season on August 31 at 3:30 p.m. against Akron.
