All women know that nothing refreshes the spirit like a fresh haircut and new hair color, so it’s no surprise that Vice President Kamala Harris opted for a new look for the most important week of her career.
The 59-year-old presidential candidate took the stage at the Democratic National Convention on Monday, August 18, with beautiful honey-blonde highlights that glistened in the spotlight.
Fans loved the politician’s new look, with one writing on social media: “Kamala’s silk press and honey blonde highlights are a hit tonight!”
“Can we give a shout out to the stylist who colored @KamalaHarris’ hair?! It’s perfect!” tweeted another, while one comment read: “The hair looks absolutely fabulous.”
Kamala’s hair has been the envy of many for years and it was believed that her hairdresser used a silk pressing technique to give her soft waves.
A silk press treatment is used to straighten naturally curly hair without excessive heat, preserving the natural curls. After the hair is cleansed and dried with a round brush or vented brush, it is straightened and smoothed with a flat iron or curling iron, leaving it looking soft.
But in 2023, Kamala made the shocking revelation that she doesn’t use a regular straightener or curling iron to press her silk, but rather just a boar bristle brush and a high-powered blow dryer.
“I don’t use a curling iron, it’s too hot, so I use a round brush (and a blow dryer),” she told Keke Palmer, who showed her shock with a comical gasp. which you can watch below:
When asked by Keke how Kamala managed to get her hair to look as straight as it is known for, Kamala revealed that although it takes “a while” using only a blow dryer, it is possible and it protects her hair from excessive heat.

The vice president appeared on stage on the first day of the Democratic National Convention in a beige suit by Chloé and later, on the fourth day, wore the same designer piece along with a navy blue power suit and matching bow blouse.
