The political press has demonstrated every day that it has no self-respect, flattering the “dynamism” and authority of Kamala Harris while the candidate has refused to give interviews or press conferences for weeks.

At the forefront of this subservient line is Time magazine, which published a picturesque portrait of Kamala with the words “Her moment.” Between puffy clouds of prose, Time writer Charlotte Alter confessed: “Harris has not yet given a single substantive interview or explained her policy shifts. (Her campaign team declined an interview request for this article.)”

That’s quite a contrast to Donald Trump, whom Time interviewed for a cover story in April. That interview was so long that Time.com could tell you the transcript was an “83-minute read.” In addition, they did a lengthy “fact check” that was a “21-minute read.”

CRITICS CAUSE KAMALA HARRIS’ GLOWING TIME COVER: ‘JOURNALISTS WHO WORSHIP POLITICIANS ARE FANTASTIC’

Giving the press access does you absolutely no good.

There is no “fact check” on Kamala, as there was no interview. Instead, Alter repeatedly drew comparisons to pop music superstars. She began: “The soundtrack was reminiscent of a Beyoncé concert. The glowing bracelets were reminiscent of the Eras Tour (by Taylor Swift). And the boisterous crowd – more than 14,000 people lined up in the rain – was reminiscent of the early days of Barack Obama.”

Taylor Swift appeared again a few paragraphs later: “In the 48 hours after she was named the presumptive nominee, more than 38,000 people registered on Vote.org, far surpassing the surge in voter registration sparked by Taylor Swift last year.”

But that’s not all: “The great enthusiasm for a woman is nothing new: Harris’ candidacy comes just one year after the blockbuster summer with Barbie, Beyoncé and Swift.”

Perhaps most implausible, TIME dragged out the “Star Wars” phantoms. Senator Cory Booker claimed that Harris had “mastered the art of ‘persuasion’ required to get major legislation passed for Democrats.” “She has,” he said, “gone from a Padawan to a Jedi Master.”

Overall, Alter said, “Harris has managed the fastest mood change in modern political history.” The media acts as if Harris is responsible for “mood changes,” as if her incessant protestations about her “dynamism” and her “joyful warrior posturing” are not part of the attempt to change the mood.

Even Kamala Harris, the terrible boss, is fired. We’re told she was let down by bad staff instead. “One challenge for Harris has been the people around her. Over the years, a rotating cast of senior staff has muddied her message and raised doubts about her abilities as a manager.”

Harris is not responsible for anything, while former President Donald Trump gave a hostile interview to a Time writer named Eric Cortellessa. He asked Trump 11 questions about the charges against Trump (and his “revenge” for them), five questions about January 6, two about possible political violence in 2025, four about fighting the “deep state,” three about his “dictator for a day” joke, and four about whether he would try to repeal the 22nd Amendment and seek a third term.

When it came to the prosecution by Biden’s Justice Department, Cortellessa lectured Trump: “I just want to say for the record, there is no evidence that President Biden ordered this prosecution against you.” Trump rejected that: “I always hate when a reporter makes statements like that. You know it’s so wrong.”

Time, like other slavishly pro-Biden-Harris media outlets, will never admit that the resignation of Matthew Colangelo, Biden’s third-highest justice official, to join Alvin Bragg’s team of Trump prosecutors, disproves the “lack of evidence” lie.

Time magazine’s artistic Kamala cover is reminiscent of the kind of jubilation with which they launched a cover story about Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Christine Blasey Ford, one of Brett Kavanaugh’s accusers, committing baseless sexual assault. It’s the kind of overconfident propaganda that puts a stranglehold on conservatives’ throats at the idea that the media provided “the first draft of history.”
