Kanye West thanks Drake for inspiring “Watch The Throne” in new “100 GIGS” website clip

We all know the story of how Kanye West and Drake were allegedly inspired by Drake for their 2011 joint album Watch The ThroneWell, we say allegedly because there are some conflicting reports about whether the title was written by a ESPN Report on LeBron James’ loss in his first NBA Finals appearance, rather than a Drizzy lyric about taking “the throne.” Still, it’s fun to reminisce, right? The Toronto superstar certainly thinks so, as he’s been releasing a ton of footage and content on his recently unveiled website, 100 GIGS. In one of those clips, Ye credits him with inspiring his Hov team at OVO Fest 2013, a bizarre moment when you look back at their on-again, off-again feud.

“As I stand in this city right now, I want to make it clear to all of you that there were a lot of rappers that came in the game and weren’t able to do something like this for their city,” Kanye West told the crowd at OVO Fest 11 years ago. “We couldn’t make the music that we make. Hov and I never could have done it. Watch The Throne if that n***a wouldn’t put so much pressure on us.” Drake keeps the pressure on, as this new “100 GIGS” material also includes two new three-packs of songs. It’s also not the first time he’s included something about Ye in these “100 GIGS” drops.

Kanye West talks about Drake’s “pressure” at OVO Fest 2013

In fact, thanks to his latest hints on his IG burner account @plottttwistttttt, fans believe the 6ix God will be releasing even more content, music, or maybe even a new album very soon. That remains speculation at this point, but based on everything he’s posted and shared these days, there’s certainly more on the way. Still, OVO fans and haters alike are wondering what the point of it all is. This new clip from Kanye West suggests Drake is trying to make his legacy and influence as clear as day, inundating his opponents with material to dominate the discussion.

Meanwhile, fans on both sides of the 2024 rap wars continue to take every opportunity (however irrelevant and unrelated) to praise Drake over Kendrick Lamar and vice versa. As for K.Dot, he could be out very soon too, but some people are predicting he won’t have much more to say to his rival. The Boy, however, has offered more criticism of his opponents on his new three-pack. Will he continue to boast from the top of a city on the hill or does he really want another round, be it with Ye or whoever else wants the smoke?
