Kendall County Blueberry Festival – Shaw Local

Here are five things to do in Kendall County:

1. Blueberry Festival: Woody’s Orchard & Fun Farm will celebrate its Blueberry Festival on Saturday and Sunday, August 24 and 25, from noon to 8 p.m. Blueberries and blueberry products are available for purchase. Blueberries will not be picked, but apples can be purchased in the orchard. A day pass to the festival is $14.95 plus a $1 fee. The pass includes all farm activities, but other events such as gem mining incur additional fees. Admission is free for children under 2 and active military with ID. 2. Wine festival at the end of summer: On Sunday, August 25, Oak + Bean in Oswego will be offering an end-of-summer wine festival from 2-4 p.m. or 5-7 p.m. with over 65 wines to taste. The event includes a full-size Riedel wine glass for guests to take home, a personalized cheese and charcuterie box, and discounts on other products. Tickets are $50 per session. Purchases and input will determine which wines Oak + Bean will serve throughout the fall and winter. The event is located at 100 W. 3rd Yorkville High School Alumni Reunion: On Saturday, Sept. 28, the Yorkville High School All-Alumni Reunion will be held from 2 to 10 p.m. at the Kendall County Fairgrounds, 10826 Illinois Route 71, Yorkville. There will be a cash bar and food trucks will be on site from 5 to 8 p.m. Two alumni of the school will provide music. A photo area, yearbooks from 1937 to present and more will also be available. Spouses and guests are welcome. Since its inception in 2017, this event has been held each year on the last Saturday in September. 4. From dirt to dishes: A weekly workshop on building with clay by hand: Plano’s Arts on Fire studio is offering a weekly workshop that allows participants to sculpt clay with their hands starting Tuesday, Sept. 3. The workshop will be held from 3-8 p.m. Participants can sculpt clay pieces at their own pace, receive free instruction, and learn the basics of clay working. The cost is $12 weekly or $35 monthly. Tickets can be purchased the first Tuesday of the month. Clay is $35 for 25 pounds, $20 for 10 pounds, and $12 for 5 pounds. Arts on Fire is located at 217 E. 5. Moms & More Kids Resale: On Saturday, September 7, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., toys and other used goods will be offered at a resale sponsored by the Old Post PTA. Pre-sale is available from 7:15 a.m. to 8 a.m. for $10 admission; admission is free during regular sale hours. Blue signs indicate 50% off from noon to 2 p.m. The resale will be held at Old Post Elementary School, 100 Old Post Road, Oswego. For more information, visit momsandmoreoswego.org/resale.
