Kirk Walker Jr., man killed in wrong-way driving accident on Henry Hudson Parkway in New York City, was scheduled to marry on Sunday

NEW YORK CITY — There is no consolation for Shauntea Weaver.

Weaver was supposed to get married in a beautiful ceremony on Sunday – but a nightmare prevented her from walking down the aisle.

Shortly before 2:20 a.m. Saturday morning, according to the New York Police Department, a pickup truck was traveling the wrong way on the Henry Hudson Parkway in Manhattan, heading south in the northbound lanes. Tragedy struck near 165th Street in Washington Heights when the truck collided head-on with a Dodge sedan, killing both occupants.

The driver, Kirk Walker Jr., who was getting married, and his 40-year-old cousin were both killed.

“I feel like I’m watching a fictional TV show. It doesn’t seem real to me,” Weaver said.

Authorities said both occupants of the pickup truck fled the scene. One was caught. The driver is still at large.

All this leaves a bride without a groom and two families without consolation.

“I trust in God. I hope you suffer as I suffer,” Weaver said.

Instead of showering the couple with best wishes for a long and happy marriage, family and friends gathered in Bergenfield, New Jersey on Sunday to offer support and condolences.

Walker Jr. has three children who are now fatherless.
