KU football fans excited for first game of season – The Lawrence Times

Kansas football fans gathered to kick off the season, which begins Thursday night with the Jayhawks’ game against Lindenwood.

Optimism is high as the Jayhawks won a bowl game last year for the first time in 15 years, finishing the season 9-4. This will be the team’s fourth year under coach Lance Leipold.

Fans had the opportunity to hear from senior running back Devin Neal, a Lawrence High School graduate, senior cornerback Cobee Bryant and others on Saturday during the KU Football Kickoff Party in downtown Lawrence.

The first game of the season is Thursday at 7 p.m. against the Lindenwood Lions at Children’s Mercy Park. It will be streamed on ESPN+. For more information on the game, follow this link.

The Jayhawks will then travel to Champaign, Illinois to face the Fighting Illini on Saturday, September 7th at 6:00 p.m. The Jayhawks will then face the UNLV Rebels on Friday, September 13th at 6:00 p.m. at Children’s Mercy Park.

All home games this season will be played at either Children’s Mercy Park or Arrowhead Stadium while KU’s stadium undergoes extensive renovations.
