Muhlenberg will soon welcome Sue McNeilly, a higher education professional with nearly twenty years of experience, as the new executive director of the college’s Career Center. McNeilly comes to Muhlenberg from the Wasserman Center for Career Development at New York University’s School of Professional Studies, where she has worked since 2018. McNeilly will begin her position with Muhlenberg on September 9.

“We are excited to welcome Sue to Muhlenberg,” said Provost Laura Furge. “She has the experience and vision to further promote and support our students’ career orientation. She works with faculty and staff across campus to provide robust opportunities and programs that inspire students to excel.”

Muhlenberg President Kathleen Harring recognized the college’s longstanding leadership in advancing the careers of its students. Our alumni are very successful, she says. Innovative career services have played a major role in this success and I am excited about the energy and thought leadership that Sue will bring to the College. She will help us continue to expand the support we provide in this area, which is incredibly important to our students and their families.

At NYU, McNeilly held increasingly senior positions, most recently as director of the Wasserman Center for Career Development at SPS. During McNeilly’s time at the Wasserman Center, her team launched a series of employer visits for students that included alumni panels, networking lunches, and job simulations. She also personally led the creation and implementation of the Identity Career Success Cohort Series, a six-week intensive group coaching experience that supports students with an underrepresented identity in the job search process.

Prior to NYU, McNeilly worked in housing and student housing at St. John’s University, Rutgers University and Hofstra University.

“The Lehigh Valley’s thriving and diverse economy serves as an extended classroom and a strong talent pool for students. I look forward to working with college leadership to continue to grow that pool for future generations. As a native Philadelphian, I am familiar with Muhlenberg’s rich history and reputation. My family and I look forward to getting to know members of the campus community, alumni and friends.”
