Latto earns the nickname “Female Drake” with new album

Today Latto finally released her third studio album, Sugar-honey iced tea. The project came after much anticipation and fans are impressed so far. The Atlanta-born artist has managed to stay true to her roots and give listeners what they love her for while also showcasing her evolution as an artist. As fans share their reactions to the LP on social media, many have also started drawing comparisons to Drake. Some even claim that Latto’s latest release cements her place as the female version of the Toronto hitmaker.

“Latto’s album came out today and you hear so much Drake and 21 Savage on it (…) You could literally put Settle Down’s rap over the Major Distribution beat and the shit would be so hard,” writes one fan on X. “You hear the Drake influence all over the album but it sounds so good. Latto could really be the female Drake,” says another.

Some critics have even accused Drake of writing the album for Latto, which is of course unfounded. Regardless, it’s likely that Latto takes the comparisons as a huge compliment. After all, she has stated on several occasions that she is a huge fan of Drizzy. It’s also not the first time that fans have pointed out similarities in their music.

After she dropped “Big Mama” in June, her fans insisted they could hear Drake’s influence from afar. At the time, she made it clear she was flattered, calling him “the GOAT.” When Drake made his unexpected 100 gigabyte dump earlier this week, he even unveiled a track featuring Latto that quickly became a fan favorite.
